DOT SAP
If you are an employee in a safety-sensitive position who has tested positive for drugs or alcohol, or if you have refused a required test, federal law requires you to be removed from your duties immediately. At LIFE Counseling & Assessment Center, Dr. Trina Wilson and her team provide the professional guidance necessary during this period. We specialize in helping employees meet the rigorous standards set by the Department of Transportation so they can safely return to the workforce.
Comprehensive SAP Evaluations
The first step in regaining your eligibility is a clinical assessment by a qualified Substance Abuse Professional. Our SAP evaluations are thorough and designed to meet all federal requirements under 49 CFR Part 40. During the initial interview, Dr. Wilson or a member of her team will conduct a face-to-face clinical assessment to determine the appropriate level of education or treatment needed. While our office is based in Atlanta, Georgia, we offer these services nationwide to ensure that drivers, pilots, and transit workers across the country have access to compliant care.
DOT Assessments and Recommendations
Every situation is unique, and our DOT assessments are structured to reflect that. Following the initial evaluation, the SAP will provide a specific recommendation for either a substance abuse education program or a formal treatment plan. We act as a neutral party, prioritizing public safety while providing you with a clear roadmap for compliance. Once you have completed the prescribed program, you will return to us for a follow-up evaluation. This second meeting is vital, as it allows the SAP to verify your progress and determine if you are eligible for a return-to-duty drug test.
Nationwide Compliance and FMCSA Clearinghouse Support
Our commitment to DOT compliance extends to all regulated agencies, including the FMCSA, FAA, and FRA. We handle the necessary documentation and reporting for the FMCSA Clearinghouse, ensuring that your records are updated promptly once you have satisfied the program requirements. For those in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and beyond, our team provides the expertise needed to manage the follow-up testing schedule, which typically includes at least six unannounced tests during your first year back on the job.
